Algerian-French rocker Rachid Taha stirs up his political outspokenness with his love of North African instrumentation, punk music and electronica to create a fiery brand of rock that defies easy categorization. With ouds (Arabic lutes) and darbukas (hourglass drums), the rough-edged but never abrasive Taha creates something uniquely emotional on every track of his latest album, Tékitoi? He even pulls off a joltingly potent version of The Clash's "Rock the Casbah" that takes on new meaning in our grave new world.
