Nashville City Paper, CD Review >>

Kiran Ahluwalia hits incredible high notes, adjusts to spiraling tempos without a hitch and generally soars and triumphs on her self-titled new Triloka CD. Though translations are provided for the vocals, it's not necessary to understand what she's singing to be transfixed and amazed by the quality of her vocals, the range she has or the speed with which she cane execute these maneuvers. But there's also quite a bit of soul and energy in her singing alongside the technical expertise. Whether doing folk, pop or traditional Indian numbers, Ahluwalia thrills listeners with her amazing sound. The wonderful Celtic fiddler Natalie MacMaster backs her on two tracks, but hearing Ahluwalia's voice rising out a wave of tables, guitar and harmonium is an unforgettable experience. 06/17/05 >> go there
