Sara Tavares
As an African in Lisbon, Sara Tavares realizes cultural melting pots have their advantages and disadvantages. Her Cape Verdean heritage is found on “Balance”, an album filled with sweet R&B rhythms, smooth grooves, and multi-lingual lyrics (Portuguese, English, and Crioulo). There’s a distinct afro-beat vibe trawling through several of the tracks but the best tracks seem to be the ones in which there’s multiple influences swirling about which coalesces with her thoughts on culture and heritage.
