Gypsy music seems to be indestructible. It doesn't matter what kind of musical chaos you throw it into -- combine it with reggae, electronica, rock'n'roll, jungle, whatever -- it will emerge stronger and cockier. Kal, a Gypsy band from Belgrade, demonstrate the principle on this thrilling and exhausting album, on which you'll hear skanking backbeats, wah wah guitars, wailing accordions, drum loops, keening violins, and at least one tuba-driven tango.
