Le Trio Joubran is three brothers who meld their respective strengths to create a very interesting album. The oldest brother Samir provides the compostions, Wissam - the first Arabic luthier to graduate from the Stradivarius Institute in Cremona, Italy - made by hand the three ouds the trio uses, and Adnan is considered a prodigy. Together they are able to manufacture with their ouds, close to an hour's worth of music that will dwell in your mind long after the music has stopped. Le Trio Joubran open with six exciting minutes of "Hawas," followed by close to five minutes of the pretty "Misage," along with the haunting "Shagaf." "Safar" is 18 minutes of creative sounds, and the brothers finish up with "Ahwak" live in Ramallah. The sound is unique but intriguing as well! 03/31/06
