Today you´re in for a real treat. The 6 Guys of Hazmat Modine from New York create a very original blend of New Orleans Jazz, "Whorehouse Blues", Country & American Roots Music. Apart from the dominant Harmonicas they also got some long forgotten Instruments aboard, like the claviola, the contra-bass saxophone or the lute guitar. And their Singer really kicks ass. On their Longplayer you will find some great Coverversions too - the swampy "Steady Roll" with it´s nasty lyrics and the Killerdiller-Track "Who walks in (when i walk out)", which are both over 70 years old. And be sure to listen to that awesome Title Track "Bahamut" which is by far one of the most original Piece of "Evil" Blues I´ve ever had the joy of listening to. Genius. Note the fantastic lyrics on this one. And maybe throat singing from the plains of Siberia is not something you'd expect to find on a Blues track probably ever. The fact that the four piece band Huun-Huur-Tu not only sings on the song "Everybody Loves You", and that it doesn't sound like some weird novelty act, but a sensible contribution to the song, shows you how much our definition of roots music needs to be broadened. Sit back, relax and play this Album LOUD. You won´t regret. 01/25/07 >> go there
