ECCODEK. More Africa in US (White Swan): Titled after an old Brian Eno comment, eccodek's newest, globally conscious release collates dub, fusion. Euro-style acid jazz, African voices and electronic effects while placing equal emphasis on deep, rolling grooves and evocative vocals - the latter courtesy of Rwandan refugee Ignace Ntirushwamaboko and Mali's Samba Diallo. Anchored by Toronto-based singer-songwriter and electronic composer Andrew McPherson, eccodek's wholly studio creation - dreamlike lines from samples, percussion, flute, saxophone, kora and congas float in and drift off, governed by McPherson's sensitive programming but his passion for his singers centers the production around their very human warmth.
