WHITE SWAN/Eccodek

More Africa In Us (CD)

Andrew McPherson is the man behind Eccodek's blend of downtempo grooves, tribal electronica, and world dub. Despite a series of obstacles, and a timely meeting with special guest singer from Mali, Samba Diallo, the duo combined to write several songs heard on More Africa In Us. A deeply funky and hypnotic mix of African vocals, Eastern melodies and downtempo grooves. Vocal efforts performed by Diallo and Ignace Ntirushwamaboko. Rhythmic sounds emanate from cuts as, "In This Drum A Secret," the repetitive "Bizuru Dub," forecasting fun with "Calling The Rain," and connecting with "Mongolia On The Line." The African flavor beats rapidly for, "Peace Time," the pounding cadence of "100 Drums," the straining "Lover's Lament," and a bonus track "Juju In Those Strings." With all the pieces in place, McPherson had beaten all obstacles!  09/15/06
