Vieux Farka Toure
Sadly, the great Malian guitar legend Ali Farka Toure passed away last March - his swan song, Savane, proved not only to be one of his career best, but one of last year's strongest releases. Thankfully his legend shines on in the hands of his son. Vieux Farka's self-titled debut displays not only an amazing singer-guitarist in his own right (very evocative of Pops), but with a penchant for incorporating modern influences and production.
