I just love the name Slavic Soul Party! That alone makes me wanna go to this show. Oh, but wait, there's so much more than just the cool name.
Slavic Soul Party! is a NYC Balkan brass band of nine musicians like you've never heard. They blend Gypsy, East European, Mexican, and Asian with American jazz and soul.
This show will be a funky adventure into their imaginative, artistic world of internationally infiuenced music that will lend itself to spontaneous belly dancing and lively fun, complete with accordion.
Local act Zhok Therapy call themselves the "unruly alterego" of The Casco Bay Tlunmlers and they play improvisational Balkan and Middle Eastern music; or to put in another way, they're pretty much the most perfect opening act you could imagine for this show.
Tell me again why I got rid of my multicolored glitter-striped Chuck Taylors? They were made for a show just like this one.
