Singer/songwriter Basya Schecter, who was brought up an Orthodox Jew in Brooklyn, is the visionary behind Pharaoh's Daughter, which melds Hasidic music with Middle Eastern and African sounds, as well as more modern guitar, keyboard, psych-pop sounds.

A number of tracks on her and the band's new album, "Haran," derive from sabbath songs and 500-year old kabalistic poetry. It's sure to clash with the neighborhood when Pharoah's Daughter performs at Highline Ballroom (431 W. 16th St.; [212] 414-5994) in the clubby Meatpacking District on Monday.
