Marie Daulne has been making brilliant and funky Afro-European music since the early 1990s, at first leading an esemble called Zap Mama and now basically serving as Zap Mama herself with a shifting array of helpers. On her latest album these include bassist Will Lee, drummer Tony Allen, saxophonist Lenny Pickett, and bassist Me'shell Ndegéocello, among many others. As always, the result is richly harmonized and powerfully pop-smart. Very highly recommended. 08/01/07 >> go there
