Zap Mama, aka Marie Daulne, has risen from the roots of traditional West African music to embrace the global stage.  On Supermoon, the Belgian-Congolese singer distills sundry elements into an upbeat album of distinctive songs, a multilingual world tour incorporating hip-hop beatts, the breezy mood of Brazil, insouciant exchanges of rap against a soulful choral backdrop and even a bit of acoustic balladeering.  The accomplished effort is the sound of Africa coming to graceful terms with the music of Europe and the New World.
