The Hour Magazine, CD Review >>
Virignia's Bio Ritmo are without a doubt leaders of the post-salsa revolution, a band with one foot clearly in the past of the storied musical medium they pray to, but with the other one kicking down doors and boundaries in the name of authenticity and originality. This seasoned nine-piece, with members still only in their 30s, drop their sixth album, Bionico, with the intention of shaking up the establishment as well as your booty, and it's full of electric/electronic surprises, funky fills and miles of groove. Fear not though, the classic percussion, duelling vocals and four-man horn section keep it all grounded.
