Fabian Alsultany is a man with a plan. This world music mogul has worked as a musical festival promoter, artist manager, and director of A&R. We can enjoy the skills of this music industry chameleon in his role as DJ extraordinaire during the Heineken TransAtlantic Music Festival on Tuesday, April 7.

Deejaying for last 20 years, Alsultany’s style is a natural fit for The Rhythm Foundation’s mission of celebrating international artists and music in South Florida. He skillfully uses his music to express the voice of the planet, and how we are all more alike than we are different. With the success of artists like the Sri Lankan born, London raised M.I.A and others, he truly believes that the face of what is pop culture is changing as the face of America is changing. “As long as the whole planet is mixed, the market [for world music] will continue to grow,” he explained.

His sound is celebratory dance music combining traditional and sometimes ritualistic ethnic music with electronic beats – a rarity in Miami’s music scene. For that reason alone, Alsultany seems to grow his fan base every time he comes here. He hopes that his free gig at the News Lounge will be a successful avenue for the festival to expose a market for world music DJ’s in Miami.

Details: 7:30pm at News Lounge, 5580 NE 4th Court, Miami / Free and open to the public.
