The Independent

9 p.m., $20

Fat Freddy's Drop, a band from New Zealand named after a lysergic cartoon cat, made its live debut in San Francisco last November with two sold-out shows and an in-store performance at Amoeba. After that warm reception, the band is back in town this week for three more concerts. Fat Freddy's most recent album, Dr Boondigga and the Big BW, was an instant smash at home, and has seen the band's sexy electronic dub spun for discerning dancefloors throughout the world. Catch the smoldering island soul of Fat Freddy's Drop tonight, Friday, and Saturday at the Independent.
