-- NY Times: The Pixies are the latest band to cancel concerts in Israel in what a promoter called "cultural terrorism."

-- Pitchfork: Mavis Staples on working in the studio with Wilco's Jeff Tweedy: "Jeff would have a caterer come in there every day. The caterer would set up and every day he would bring food, we could tell them what we wanted and they'd bring it in. We'd start smelling food, but Tweedy would tell us, 'Now listen, nobody gets to eat. We gotta finish this song.'"

-- NPR: Download free concerts from Hot Chip and the xx at the 9:30 Club in Washhington D.C.

-- NME: Rage Against the Machine may take some time off from boycotting to record a new album, which would be their first since Renegades dropped in 2000.

-- Chicago Now: Isley Brothers bassist Marvin Isley is dead at 56.

-- The Guardian: Keith Richards will release an album of Rastafarian spirituals with his Stones side project, Wingless Angels. The album, Wingless Angels II, is due Sept. 23.
