Stuart Cable, former Stereophonics drummer and BBC presenter, was found dead at his home in Wales early Monday morning. Cable, 40, was cut from the band in 2003; subsequently, he became a presenter for BBC Radio Wales and joined the band Killing for Company, who were scheduled to play the Download Festival this weekend. Cable’s death is not being treated as suspicious. [Independent.co.uk]

Elton John performed at Rush Limbaugh’s fourth wedding on Saturday night, earning $1 million to play for 400 guests, including former Bush advisor Karl Rove and former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani. The Pixies have canceled their upcoming show in Israel following the country’s deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla. The band was to play what would have been their first show in Israel at the Pic.Nic Festival in Tel Aviv on June 9. Bands such as Gorillaz and Klaxons also dropped out of the festival after the Israeli commando raid left nine activists dead. Elvis Costello also canceled shows in Israel, writing on his website that “sometimes a silence in music is better than adding to the static.” [SlicingUpEyeballs.com]

Robert Plant has announced the details of his follow-up to his acclaimed album Raising Sand. According to his official website, Band of Joy will arrive in September, was co-produced by Buddy Miller, and features a mix of traditional tunes like “Cindy, I’ll Marry You One Day” and the last song written by Townes Van Zandt, “Harms Swift Way.” [TwentyFourBit.com]

More veteran rocker release news: Keith Richards’ project Wingless Angels, which he formed with Jamaican musicians in the early ’70s, will release Wingless Angels II, a collection of Rastafarian spirituals and the band’s first album in 13 years. Richards recorded the album with late Dominoes singer Justin Hinds, who died in 2005; Wingless Angels II is now streaming at the band’s official website and will be officially released in September. Green Day hopes that the band’s upcoming Rock Band game inspires fans to pick up real drums and guitars along with plastic toy replicas. Speaking of rhythm game controllers, the virtual axes for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock are now wireless and feature interchangeable, customizable bodies. [MTV.com, Gizmodo.com]
