Paul Winter Consort
By Richard Gehr Wednesday, Dec 8 2010
Some celebrate the season by stumbling drunkenly about town in Santa costumes. Others prefer the Paul Winter Consort's annual pagan-inspired celebration of multiculturalism, long held in this awe-inspiring uptown cathedral. The saxophonist's group will exploit St. John's eerie shadows and awesome acoustic resonances with music from their new Miho: Journey to the Mountain. They'll also debut a multimedia pageant The Journey Through the Longest Night with help from Armenian singer Arto Tuncboyaciyan and the Forces of Nature Dance Theater.
Thu., Dec. 16, 8 p.m.; Fri., Dec. 17, 8 p.m.; Sat., Dec. 18, 2 & 7:30 p.m., 2010
