The Untold Story of a GRAMMY Nomination
After years of intense study and years of scouring the planet for soulful music, Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon and her album, “On Namo Narayanaya: Soul Call,” has been nominated for a GRAMMY in Best Contemporary World Music Album. She stands among other musical greats including Bela Fleck, Bebel Gilberto, Angelique Kidjo, and Sergio Mendes.
Chandrika came to New York 30 years ago. She showed up with 24 dollars in her pocket and was hired by America’s most prestigious management consulting firm. With her first paycheck, she bought a guitar. And slept on the floor for another six months until she could afford furniture. Although her career flourished, something was missing from her life. In the end, Chandrika realized that she dreamt in music and that some of her happiest moments went back to music.
