RELEASE: Johnny Boy Would Love This… A Tribute to John Martyn
BACKSTORY: The long-in-the-works tribute to acclaimed British songwriter and guitarist John Martyn arrives this week, perhaps most notable for its inclusion of a rare solo track from The Cure’s Robert Smith (hear his cover of “Small Hours” here). Other artists involved include Beck, Swell Season, David Gray and Beth Orton.

BACKSTORY: Drastic Plastic Records this week reissues the punk-rockers’ EP as it originally was released — on 10-inch vinyl — in a limited-edition pressing of 5,000 copies. It’s the first time since its original release in 1980 that the nine-song set (featuring “Pressure Drop,” “Armagideon Time:)  has been released on 10-inch vinyl.
