“Don’t Want to Know”
Longtime fans of John Martyn may have mixed feelings about his just-released posthumous album, Heaven and Earth — an unflinching document of his final years — but they should feel unalloyed anticipation for the two-disc tribute album from which this is drawn. Joining this wee-small-hours-of-the-morning rendition will be the likes of Beth Orton (“Go Down Easy”), Vashti Bunyan (“Head & Heart”), Snow Patrol (“May You Never”) and Morcheeba’s Skye Edwards, who has either bravely or foolishly undertaken the unenviable task of covering “Solid Air.” (From Johnny Boy Would Love This, out July 12)
