Sunfest becomes a global village

"Victoria Park became a global village," said Sunfest artistic director, Alfredo Caxaj. "It is just such an incredible experience and has attracted people from in and outside the province. One ­couple emailed me to ask about the schedules of the performers," he added. "They flew all the way from Nashville to attend!"

From Thursday to Sunday, the paths of Victoria Park turned into boulevards of unique shops and international cuisine, while world-class musicians brought almost 40 different brands of music from around the globe. The one-of-a-kind festival in the heart of the city had four different stages, not only leaving all tastes satisfied but introducing new music to all ages.

"What is most spectacular," said Caxaj, "is we have established record-breaking attendance of 225,000 people coming to the park. I love seeing everyone so happy, and enjoying the cultural ­element. People come up to me and say, 'thank you, thank you, thank you, for making this happen.' And what is amazing is that this event is run 99% by volunteers."
