Metro London, Interview >>
Festival to showcase international music Sunfest runs from tomorrow to Sunday at Victoria Park. More than three dozen musical acts will perform throughout the weekend
Music can be a bridge between nations and cultures. Through simple chords and catchy melodies, it can connect people with seemingly little in common.
Beginning tomorrow, Londoners can reconnect with the popular Sunfest. This annual event presents an eclectic mix of performance acts inspired by music from around the globe.
“We truly believe that through art we can actually represent the incredible range of diversity (in the world),” said Alfredo Caxaj, Sunfest’s artistic and executive director. “Many of these cultures are so rich in tradition, and Sunfest is a vehicle (for them).”
Not only will a variety of musical styles be represented at Sunfest, but a multicultural array of both food and crafts will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.
It will be possible to sample Nicaraguan delicacies while shopping for handicrafts from the far reaches of the South Pacific.
The Sunfest experience is free of charge to all patrons, who can enjoy the distinct sounds of the world from the comfort of the Forest City.
“We want to make the festival accessible to everyone,” Caxaj said. “It’s a celebration of culture, of life, through music and dance, food and crafts.” 07/05/11 >> go there
