Event Description
For its 9th installment, globalFEST returns to Webster hall, featuring a group of performers that will help you shake off the cold with some calorcito. globalFest is one of the leading showcases for international music, supporting cultural exchange and global access. This year, one ticket will let you see 12 different artists on Webster’s 3 stages. The line-up features a variety of acts, including BélO, Haiti’s acoustic innovator and social activist who channels his home’s deep and diverse Afro-Caribbean roots with reggae influenced songs.
Also expected to play is M.A.K.U. Sound System, Queens based Afro-Colombian underground group that merges roaring guitars, bold brass, Latin beats and vocals. “Esto es lo que tenenemos, puya, cumbia, machete y sombrero!”
…and Diogo Nogueira, Brazil’s samba (and television) star who has a modern take on samba-cancao, an urban variation of one of the styles his father, Joao Nogueira, helped perfect.
