Old Town School releasing four-disc comp of great performances at the venue

In the more than 50 years that it’s been in existence, Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music has played host to a plethora of artists, ranging from Steve Earle and Pete Seeger to Jeff Tweedy and Andrew Bird. Like any great venue, it was only a matter of time before all of those legendary performances were available in one place.

On December 13, the venue will release Live From The Old Town School of Folk Music, a 127-track opus that will be broken down into four categories: “Family Music,” “New Folk,” “Trad Folk,” and “World Music.” It’s meant to capture the hominess and spontaneity that the venue offers, and given the track list—which includes Tweedy’s Schoolhouse Rock cover—it does just that.
