Henry Cole and the Afro-Beat Collective (Tuesday) Mr. Cole, a Puerto Rican drummer heard recently to great effect with the alto saxophonist Miguel Zenón, celebrates the self-release of his own dynamic debut, “Roots Before Branches,” a look at the rhythmic affinities between Afrobeat and Caribbean music. He will be joined by a good portion of the album’s sprawling cast, including the vocalist Hermes Ayala, the tenor saxophonist John Ellis, the percussionist Reinaldo De Jesus — and, as featured guests, Mr. Zenón and the guitarist Adam Rogers.
