Sagapool to play Skye 2012-03-28 / Arts & Entertainment
SOUTH CARTHAGE & UNITY — New England Celtic Arts will present Sagapool, Canada’s highly acclaimed World Music Band, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center Wednesday, April 4 and at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts Thursday, April 5. Curtain at Skye is 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Unity. Pre-show jam sessions at Skye and Unity will start one hour prior to curtain.
Sagapool went from Balkan and Gypsy-inflected impromptu shows on the summer streets of Old Montreal to crafting acoustic original instrumentals as a six-piece band—one so in synch that it’s no surprise when the guitarist jumps up to join the bassist for a thumping four-handed riff. It’s a gang of good friends and relatives sharing long, winding stories (the sagas in Sagapool) —but with stunning chops.
Skye Theater is located three miles west of East Dixfield village at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2 in South Carthage. UCCPA is at 42 Depot Street in Unity.
