* Stresses posthumous tribute to Chavela Vargas at Carnegie Hall

New York, Oct. 8 (AP). - The organizers of the Festival "Celebrate Mexico Now", which is held every year in this city, today announced a program that includes some of the most representative artists and creators of contemporary Mexican culture diverse .

With acts of dance, theater, puppetry, book launches, conferences, architecture, food tastings, concerts and multimedia performances, the festival will celebrate its ninth edition from 13 to 27 November.

"Celebrate Mexico Now" includes this year a tribute to Mexican singer Chavela Vargas of Costa Rican origin, gender Queen vernacular, died last August. The act was approved by the artist before his own death.

Scheduled for November 27, the tribute will be offered by the singers Tania Libertad, Eugenia León and Ely Guerra, in the famous Carnegie Hall concert hall.

On the music front, besides, the Festival is scheduled to dark electro group Selma Oxor pin-up, the music harpist Celso Duarte traditional and classic, the piper and multimedia artist Alejandro Escuer and jazz singer Magos Herrera.

It will also be presented the Band of the Dead, a group originally from Brooklyn County, New York, which has recovered the northern band music and added some twists urban.

There will also be two functions of puppet theater Cornice 20, a presentation of the acclaimed dance company of José Limón, a sample of the winning short film International Film Festival of Morelia and a conversation with architect Mauricio Rocha-Iturbide.

Also, the writer presents his book Benito Taibo "normal person".

The festival will also include a sample of contemporary Mexican cuisine, organized in restaurants Café Frida, Casa Mezcal, Fonda, Hecho en Dumbo, La Palapa, Maya, Pampano, and Toloache Papatzul.

According to Claudia Norman, curator and founder of the festival, "Celebrate Mexico Now" is an effort to build bridges with the community and to show the mixing between the popular and the avant-garde of contemporary Mexican culture.
