On Friday, September 17, took place the opening of the seventh annual Celebrate Mexico Now festival in the city of New York.

Claudia Norman, director of cultural encounter, said that this time "the festival will offer New Yorkers expressions of a new form of social consciousness of Mexican artists. They are nurturing rural and urban traditions face transnational influences, always keeping alive something very unique and very Mexican. "

Paco Ignacio Taibo II was responsible for opening the event with the presentation of the police anthology Mexico City Noir, in a ceremony also attended by the Consul General of Mexico in New York, Ruben Beltran, the Mexican Cultural Institute Director, Raul Zorrilla, and representatives of some institutions of municipal government in New York.

Among the activities that will be presented at various venues around the city and end on September 30, will include a concert of Natalia Lafourcade, a panel discussion to commemorate Carlos Monsivais, the launch of new chants of the ceiba), a short series of awards at the Morelia Film Festival and various forums on Mexican cuisine.
