DETROIT, MI - Fresh off her Destiny's Child reunion with Beyonce and Kelly Rowland at the Super Bowl, Michelle Williams prepares to perform in Detroit for a one-week run of the Tony Award winning musical FELA!.

Eight shows will be held Feb. 12-17 at the Detroit Music Hall, 350 Madison St.

Williams plays the role of Sandra Isadore, a feminist/activist who not only was Fela Kuti's love interest, but was also influential in shaping Fela's political and human Rights activism.

"Fela!" is based on the life of Fela Kuti, who created Afrobeat; a blend of jazz, funk and African rhythm and harmonies;and mixed these sensual eclectic rhythms with simple but powerful lyrics that openly assailed Nigeria's corrupt and oppressive dictatorships.

The musical will feature many of Kuti's songs performed by a combined cast of the original Broadway production and the Royal National Theatre production all under Bill T. Jones.

Show times for Feb. 12-17 are Tuesdays-Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Tickets range in price from $30-$100 and are available at the Music Hall Box Office, by phone (313-887-8501), the musical's website or Ticketmaster.
