Singer Hamid Al-Saadi is considered a master qari of Iraqi maqam, a centuries-old Arab musical form that incorporates hammered dulcimer, spike fiddle and often a tambourine that focuses on the singing of a poem in classical dialect. This performance marks Al-Saadi's U.S. debut, at which he’s joined by Oak Park native and gifted improviser Amir ElSaffar.
