Jazz Weekly, Album Review >>

Guitarist Jason Seed puts together an intriguing mix of strings, melding classical and folk with dashes of jazz sensibilities on this collection of penetrating originals. Together with Glenn Asch/v-vio, Helen Reich/vio, Dan Armstrong/b and Scott Tisdel/cel, they create material that range from Moorish moods (“Ishtar”) to thrilling and dramatic tangos (“Goulash Rag” and “Tangoesque”). Agonizing Eastern European yearnings are felt on “Krakow” while warm American folk panoramas are exhibited on “”Where the Corners Meet.” The mix of embracing long bowed tones and delicate pizzicato prancings make for enriched listening. Enjoyable on many planes.
