Brazilian megastar Carlinhos Brown sees himself as the by-product of American so much so that he changed his name from Antonio Carlos Santos de Freitas as an homage to James Brown. He plays alongside another Afro-Latin act Andy Palacio, one of Belize's finer punta-rock dance-music exports. Palacio has played at SummerDance, but lately he's been digging deeper into his namely, Central America's Afro- indigenous Garifuna and reinterpreting the traditional music with his own beat-driven, rumba-flavored touches. 05/30/07
