Manuel Agujetas is one of an acclaimed group of flamenco singers from Spain that is coming to the Bay Area next week. Agujetas will be performing on June 19th as part of the 2010 Festival of Flamenco Arts and Traditions, organized by the Bay Area Flamenco Partnership.
KALW's Martina Castro spoke with the Partnership's artistic director, Nina Menendez about the festival and about the culture, music, and traditions that make up the art of flamenco.
The 2010 Festival of Flamenco Arts and Traditions starts on June 15 with acclaimed flamenco dancer Manuela Carrasco at the Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley, and runs through June 19. For tickets and more information, you can go to www.bayareaflamencofestival. com.
