EVERYONE ORCHESTRA BROOKLYN SESSIONS
Harmonized
Matt Butler, the force behind Everyone Orchestra, stepped up and put together this evolving project that defines the Word ‘creative.’ ‘Brooklyn Sessions’ is his latest venture, and he used that opportunity to invite past collaborators _ musical friends to the studio session. Included were keyboardist/ pianist Marco Benevento, A1 Schnier (111oe.), druminer Jon Fishman (Phish), Jen Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), saxophonist Jeff Cof- fin (Dave Mathews Band), guitarist Steve Kimock, and bassist Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green), among others, for two days of exploration and co-creation. The result is a blend of hard-hitting grooves that take unex- pected twists and turns, to sweet and expansive, all guided by a spirit that is both liberated and focused. The resulting eight tracks take on a life of their own in the form of the lengthy ['/242] emotional rollercoaster ride of “Boots,” plus the heavenly “Explore Space,” the intense “Hold Tight” and the tightly woven “Bass Blanket.” The back four tracks feature the raucous, 110-holds-barred charge labeled “Funk Explo- sion,” along with the tailored sound of “Take Off Your Clothes,” the brevity of “Pen- sive” and the slow groove of “Talk To Me.” 05/04/12
