KITKA
Listening to this all-women choir, you'd never know they were home-grown Americans, such is their mastery of Balkan and Slavic vocal traditions. Kitka means bouquet in Bulgarian and Macedonian, and that's an appropriate image for the beguiling sound - picture a rose with thorns included - produced by these nine women. "The Rusalka Cycle: Songs Between the Worlds," directed by Ellen Sebastian Chang with music by Mariana Sadovska, is a theatrical tribute to Rusalki, spirits in Slavic folklore of women who have died unjustly. $15-$28. 8 p.m. today and Sat. and 2 p.m. on Jan 6. Eugene and Elinor Friend Center for the Performing Arts, Jewish Community Center, 3200 California St., San Francisco. (415) 292-1200, tickets.jccsf.org, www.kitka.org.
