Madison Decider, 20th Annual Marquette Waterfront Festival Saturday >>
The East Side's summer festivals kick off once again with two days of music, beer, and silly barefoot dancing along the shores of Lake Monona. As always, Waterfront Fest is a blend of local, African, and Cajun sounds, though Saturday's headliner, San Francisco's Rupa And The April Fishes (6:30 p.m.) contribute a global patchwork rooted in Gypsy jazz and Latin music, throwing yet another, well, mix into the mix. Earlier on, there's the reggae outfit Taj Weekes And Adowa (4:45 p.m.) and Occidental Brothers Dance Band International's bright, joyfully rhythmic take on African guitar rock (3 p.m.), among other things. Rupa And The April Fishes and Taj Weekes And Adowa will also move to the High Noon Saloon around 10 p.m. for a "Waterfront After Dark" concert with a $10 cover. 06/12/09 >> go there
