Zembg El Gallo Bueno (Aagoo Records) Hybrid Latin band front man Abra ham Gomez Delgado plays his coun try of origin, r uerto Rico, as metaphor for what's going on every where in the world, from immigration to globalization, incorporating sounds from band musicians rooted in Cuba, Africa, Venezuela, the Caribbean and the U.S. But the slapping bass and jazz fusion and rock rhythms on* some tracks feels like a cross-cultural, sonic Rorschach test. Cama is best where it is less abstract on tracks such as Gordo Rojo, Assimilar and LaCosfifla, with trumpets and guitar sounds backing Gomez Delgado's screaming protest lyrics.
