2009 Sunset Concerts at the Skirball
Thursdays, July 16th - August 13th, 8:00 p.m.
Why be stuck on the 405 when you could travel the world with the 2009 Sunset Concert series at the Skirball? From Malian musical great Issa Bagayogo to Quebec's beloved Gadji-Gadjo to Turkish/Middle Eastern multi-instrumentalist Omar Faruk Tekbilek, there's no better escape from L.A. traffic than music under the stars. Now in it's 13th season, the Sunset Concert series is part of the Skirball's ongoing mission to explore world arts and culture in the context of Jewish heritage, immigration and the American experience.
Sunset Concerts will take place outdoors at the Skirball every Thursday evening from July 16 through August 13 at 8:00 p.m., in the Mark Taper Foundation Courtyard, nestled against the Santa Monica Mountains. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. No reservations are needed and admission is free. Seating is first-come, first-served and early arrival is recommended. Parking is $5 (cash only). Carpooling is recommended.
During Sunset Concerts, the Skirball's museum galleries, except for Noah's Ark at the Skirball, are open with free admission and extended hours until 10:00 p.m. In addition, the Skirball's Zeidler's Café offers a delicious dinner buffet starting at 6:00 p.m. Reservations required and accepted beginning two weeks prior to the Thursday evening of your choice: (310) 440-4575. Or pick up grab-and-go light fare at Zeidler’s Cart. Note: No outside alcoholic beverages or chairs permitted.
