South Africa's Ladysmith Black Mambazo continues to work its rich magic. Vocalist Vusi Mahlasela joins Ladysmith for the UCSD appearance.

Introduced to an instantly captivated world through their work on Paul Simon's groundbreaking album "Graceland," Ladysmith continues to work the same rich magic that has kept it Africa's pride since 1970. The 10-member choral a cappella group began as a literal dream had one night by its leader, Joseph Shabalala.

Then a factory worker, Shabalala awoke from his vision in which all the world's children sang to him, and he immediately set about teaching members of his immediate family the intricate, unique harmonies that he had heard.

Since then, the group -- which still includes several brothers and a cousin of Shabalala's -- has recorded more than 30 albums and sold more than 6 million albums worldwide, making it that continent's best-selling group. Ladysmith's shows are marked not only by their near-mesmerizing Zulu harmonies, but also by the intricate, beautiful dancing characteristic of that ethnic group.
