This amazing vocal group is joined by the strings of the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by Ralf Gothoni. This CD Showcases songs in various moods and styles. Represented are several classic Mambazo songs, and new arrangement of Welcome Duru’s well-known Xhosa lullaby “Walil’ Umntwana” (The Child is Crying) and an original song, “Dona Bobis Pacem” (heard here as a recording premiere). Schubert’s “Sanctus” (Heilig, Heilig, Heilig), Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus” represent three compositions from the classical European tradition.
