Berkshire Living, CD Review >>

If this is a global village, then it deserves its very own soundtrack.  You'd be hard pressed to come up with a stranger and more celebratory contender for the role than that which Frank London has conjured up on the third album by his Klezmer Brass Allstars.  Joining the boisterous brass band this time around is a who's who of Yiddish vocalists, including London's Klezmatics bandmate Lorin Sklamberg, Brave Old World's Michael  Alpert, and Kol Isha, a self-contained, all-female Jewish vocal group no less deserving of all-star status, but it doesn't stop there.  London invites a host of guests to the party, including Brazilian-American percussion ensemble Maracatu New York, Ukranian folk singer Marjana Sadowska, and electronic artist Curha who turns "A Time of Desire" into a stadium-sized celebration of New Orleans parade rhythms and Yiddish harmonies.  If there was ever any question about it, this CD clinches the Klezmer Brass Allstars position as one of the premiere klezmer bands--no, make that bands, period--in the world. 05/15/06 >> go there
