Another brass master is Frank London, who united some 40 musicians from eight countries on Carnival Conspiracy (Piranha/World Music Network). London's Klezmer Brass All-Stars not only play klezmer and Yiddish songs, but reconfigures pre-rock standards, expands film tunes and stretches out on vibrant versions of traditional numbers. They move into Brazilian and Mexican pieces as well, with everything being unified through London's arranging skill and the facility of numerous topflight international players. While not always adhering to the normal conventions of any one idiom, the Klezmer Brass All-Stars give listeners their own brand of Hasidic pop, klezmer and many other things as well. 05/12/06 >> go there
