globalFEST, New York's annual world music blowout concert, will ring in its 10th season in style with fresh batch of artists that boasts some true international heavyweights, including Malian wassoulou diva Fatamata Diawara, Persian kamancheh master Kayhan Kalhor, and legendary French multikulti mashup artists Lo'Jo.
The 2013 lineup was announced today, via email, after the conclusion of a successful kickstarter campaign that helped the organizers raise more than 50% over their original goal.
The 10th anniversary edition of globalFest will feature 11 artists from eight countries, so far, with one player yet to be announced. The roll call: A Tribe Called Red (Canada), Christine Salem (Réunion), Fatoumata Diawara (Mali), Kayhan Kalhor and Erdal Erzincan (Iran/Turkey), La Santa Cecilina (Los Angeles/ USA), La Shica (Spain), Lo'Jo (France), Martha Redbone Roots Project (New York, USA), Mucca Pazza (Chicago, USA), Parno Graszt (Hungary), and Stephane Wrembel and His Band (New York, USA).
