Asphalt Records/ Fanfare Clocarlia-Queens and Kinds (CD)
Fanfare Clocarlia reigns as one of the world's top brass bands and with one listen to their energy and power you will know why. The speed-lovingmasters of Romany brass music welcomed brethren from Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and France to create this album. Thumping brass driven percussion and spinning horn solos plunge listeners into the wild world of Romanian Gypsy parties. Fanfare Clocarlia gives the royal treatment to cuts as "I Will Beat Her," "How It Hurts," "Sandala," the high ebergy of "Cuando Tu Volveras," trailed by the powerful "Duj Duj," and the reprimand of Lbrahim." The rocking, wrenching songs of love and heartache continue via the threatening "I Will Leave You," the dramatic "Naklavishe," the horn-laden "Farewell March,"and end with their cover of "Born To Be Wild," which was used in the film Borat. A world of Gypsy music! 05/08/07
