Andy Palacio and Ivan Duran have been selected as the joint recipients of the 2007 WOMEX Award. Palacio, a Garifuna musican. activist and cultural ambassador for Belize, and Duran, a musician, producer and the founder of Stonetree Records, received the award for their collaborative efforts to revive and preserve the traditional music of the Garifuna people in Belize and throughout the Caribbean and Central America. Andy and Ivan will be presented with the award in Sevilla, Spain, on October 28. The presentation will also include a concert by Andy Palacio and the Garifuna Coilective.
