When Borat needed a cover of the biker anthem Born to Be Wild, the quirky "filmmaker" sought a well-loved Romany brass ensemble from a tiny village near Moldova revered for their ability to tear up stages with their furious playing. Romanian gyp sies playing Steppenwolf.  It worked for a pseudo-Kazakh in Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. It's a Balkan funk version on the last track on the band's fifth album, a fusion of foreign tongues and rhythms from 12 musicians from France to Bulgaria. Macedonian legend Esma Redzepova and her accordion-driven tunes meet flamenco guitars of French gitans from Perpig- nan, among others, in a trib ute album to the band's late founder loan Ivancea. ****
