Chopteeth - Afrofunk Big Band 4/3
O's Notes: Afrofunk Big Band is an accurate description of the sound on this release. The band includes a funky rhythm section, lots of percussion, a crisp brass section and well-integrated vocals and chants. The keyboards and guitars create a cool, funky backdrop for the rap lyrics on "Weigh Your Blessings" featuring members of Sierra Leone's Refugee All-Stars. The raspy sax lead on "Dog Days" gives it a smoky, jazz club feeling complementing the pulsating lyrics. Producer Michael Shrieks (g, vocals) composed most of the music for this project. We could feel the beats, the message and their groove!
