FADO FLOWER
Young talent, old soul
By Stacey Anderson
Portuguese singer Ana Moura captures her country's traditional fado soul music with a wizened tenderness that exceeds her mere 30 years. In a genre centered around shattered love and unrequited desires, she brings some tranquility with her resonant alto; this year's Leva-Me Aos Fados (Take Me to a Fado House), her fourth album, went platinum in her home last year, and sweeps her up in even slower, more delicate ruminations of ardor over sweet acoustic guitars. Find her—where else?—at the finest world-music hall in town.
